There’s No Difference Between Ketchup and Ripe Tomatoes
This work explores how materiality can be deployed to echo collective
experiences in Lebanon. The study of socio-political, environmental,
and corporeal conditions is rooted in the use of biological and inorganic.
Those drawings, paintings, and sculptures reflect the study of human
anatomy as well as its psychophysiology. Bones and cells form the core
of works and are represented with meticulous detail and accuracy. The
subsequent process of abstraction is an intuitive embodiment of our
memories and feelings. These sculptures use industrial materials such
as wire, latex, and nails to create a sense of intimacy while articulating
a desire for corporeal autonomy. The series is at once well-researched
and organized, while being strongly intuitive and chaotic.
